Mafia: Definitive Edition is headed to Xbox Game Pass on August 13, Microsoft announced today.
In a post on X/Twitter, Microsoft confirmed that the 2020 remaster will be available on the console version of Game Pass, in addition to PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The news was first reported a few days ago by YouTuber eXtas1s, who previously reported that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Valorant were arriving on Microisoft's gaming subscription service.

Mafia: Definitive Edition was originally released in 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Developed by Hangar 13, it is a remake of the 2002 game Mafia. The premise focuses on Tommy Angelo, a former cab driver turned gangster for a crime family in 1930s Illinois. The definitive edition was made from the ground up and features a new game engine, new cutscenes, and tweaks to the gameplay that are similar to Mafia 3.
In addition to rebuilding the first Mafia game from the ground up, Hangar 13 has taken a point in working on the Mafia series. This includes remastering Mafia 2, which was also released in 2020, and developing Mafia 3 in 2016. In 2022, the studio confirmed it was working on a new Mafia game, though details on the project have remained scarce since the initial announcement back in 2022.
"Oozing with 1930s atmosphere, Mafia: Definitive Edition is a successful rejuvenation of the best story in the series," my colleague Luke Reilly penned in his review of Mafia: Definitive Edition.
