These LEGO Transformers Sets Are Discounted for Prime Day Before They Retire Forever

LEGO has a lot of really cool sets for adults these days. If you find yourself looking to build yourself something awesome out of plastic bricks, you’re absolutely spoiled for choice. But one being in stock right now doesn’t mean it will be around forever. LEGO is retiring a ton of sets at the end of July and many of the best sets for adults are on the chopping block.

While a few of the sets on the list have already gone completely out of stock online, most of them are still available to buy. In fact, quite a few retiring LEGO sets are actually getting Prime Day discounts right now. This includes two of the super popular, actually-transforming Tranformers sets.

LEGO Transformers Sets Retiring Soon

Only three total LEGO Transformers have been released so far, and two – Optimus Prime and Bumblee – are retiring. Both of the builds are on sale right now for Prime Day.

LEGO Optimus Prime Deal

LEGO Optimus Prime was the first Transformers set ever released, all the way back in June 2022. It features over 1,500 pieces and actually transforms into the truck version of our fearless Autobot leader. We built this set when it first came out and were thoroughly impressed by it. LEGO expert Kevin Wong praised the vehicle mode the set morphs into, saying: “It looks impossible at first glance, and that’s the beauty of it, earning its way onto our list of the best LEGO sets.” You can check out our full build experience with this set in the slideshow below if you’re interested in seeing how it comes together.

LEGO Bumblebee Deal

Bumblebee was the second Transformer to get an official LEGO set. It makes sense; it’s one of the most popular Autobots and even got its own breakout movie. This set was released in July 2024 with a much lower piece count and price than Optimus Prime. We also built this set and liked it a lot, but noted that it doesn’t transform as well as Optimus Prime. You can check out how the whole thing comes together in the slideshow below.

LEGO Transformers Soundwave Isn’t Retiring

While all of the Autobot builds appear to be retiring next month, the Decepticon set likely isn’t disappearing any time soon. LEGO released the Soundwave set last year, and it’s still at full price everywhere. IGN’s Seth Macy built this set and called it one of his favorite LEGO kits so far. In his write-up, he said, “The attention to detail, the cleverness employed in its transforming design, the fact he can freaking talk, this is the stuff 1980s dreams are made of. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. It’s so choice.”
