stracerxx

What are you planning for Mother's Day this year? How are you treating the woman who birthed you, raised you, praised you when earned it, and whupped you when you deserved it? Flowers are essential, of course. A homecooked meal would be even better. But LEGO gifts are, in our opinion, the best love language.

LEGO isn't just for kids anymore or even kids at heart – it's for adults, with no asterisks and no excuses needed. There are few things that create a flow state like a LEGO project, and there are few better ways to relax after a day of work. Or parenting. Which is, above all, a whole lot of work.

The Best LEGO Mother's Day Gifts This Year

Here are the best LEGO sets to gift on Mother's Day, to show how much you care.

Eevee

The most afforadable LEGO Pokémon set currently available, Eevee is uncommonly cute and proportioned to sit on a shelf or desk space. If your mom isn't an experienced LEGO builder, this is an excellent starter set to get her into it. Our own Jacob Kienlen reviewed this set, and he cited it as one of his favorites. We also reviewed the massive Kanto Starters build and Pikachu with Poké Ball, if you're interested in something more ambitious.

Bouquet of Pink Roses

A classic Mother's Day gift with twist, this bouquet of pink roses comes with 12 separate roses – four blossomed, four blossoming, and four buds – and four sprigs of baby's breath for visual variety.

Claude Monet – Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies

Designed and built in collaboration with the MET in Manhattan, this depiction of Claude Monet's masterpiece uses layered tiles and bricks to replicate the Impressionist brush strokes of the original. It comes in a buildable frame, which makes it perfect for wall display and integration into the home. For more ideas along these lines, check out our picks for the best LEGO art sets.

Glinda & Elphaba Bookends

A great gift for the well-read mom, these Wicked-inspired bookends will remind her of you whenever she takes a book of her shelf. One's based on Glinda, the other on Elphaba. The set also comes with minifigures of all the main characters, plus secret compartments to hide them in. See our We Build feature for details.

Tuxedo Cat

The Tuxedo Cat started as a LEGO Idea – a fan-submitted proposal that the community voted on, and LEGO turned into a official set. Your mom can pose this set on her windowsill, and she can swap out the eyes to be yellow or blue, depending on her preference. Check out our picks for other great LEGO Ideas sets.

LOVE

Inspired by Robert Indiana's famous sculpture in Philadelpha, the Love scultpture is iconic for the good feelings and brotherly love that it inspires. It comes with two instruction booklets so that your mom can build together with one other person.

Tranquil Garden

Soothing to look at and soothing to build, the Tranquil Garden is a Japanese-inspired pastiche with a pavilion, arched bridge, and native plants. It's a good build to bring a mindful ambience to any room.

Chrysanthemum

This is a pretty set for the right price. Chrysanthemums symboliza joy and longevity – both things to wish for an elderly parent on this Mother's Day. It also comes with a buildable pot and a wooden plinth.

Titanic

Here's the perfect set for the dedicated LEGO mom – a massive, scaled replica of the Titanic. Built in three parts, the cross-sections of the ship show the grand staircase and boiler room. When you turn the propellers, you can see the piston engines move below deck. We reviewed this set and found it to be an incredible, sobering tribute to the Ship of Dreams.

We named this as one of the 10 Best LEGO Sets available now. Click the link to see the nine other honorees.

Sea Animals: Beautiful Dolphins

It's a momma dolphin and a baby dolphin, which makes this easy-to build set a perfect choice for Mother's Day. And best of all, it's a 3-in-1. If your mom ever gets bored, she can take it apart and build. a Seahorse or a Crab.
