Stranger Things creatives Matt and Ross Duffer (a.k.a. The Duffer Brothers) are sticking with Netflix for a new horror project called Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen.

The streamer announced a series order for the new show today. Its creator, Haley Z. Boston, who is best known for writing Netflix’s Brand New Cherry Flavor and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, is attached as executive producer and showrunner. Transparent and Murder at the End of the World veteran Andrea Sperling is also on board as an executive producer.

The Duffer Brothers, meanwhile, will serve as executive producers along with Hilary Leavitt under their Upside Down Pictures banner.

Netflix describes the drama series in its official logline: “Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen is an atmospheric horror series set at a wedding, following a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ill-fated nuptials. That’s not a spoiler — just read the title…”

The Duffer Brothers are looking to the horizon as they put the finishing touches on their long-awaited finale, Stranger Things Season 5. Today’s announcement adds even more to the duo’s stacked plate, as their other Netflix show, The Boroughs, a supernatural mystery series, is set to start production this fall. They also have a live-action Death Note series in the works, though it’s been a few years since we last heard about its status. Cast and release date details for Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen have not been revealed.

“We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script,” The Duffer Brothers said in a statement. “She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley. We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.”

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen will maintain The Duffer Brothers’ already strong relationship with Netflix, but it will be some time before we see what it looks like. While we wait for additional details, you can learn more about Stranger Things Season 5 via a behind-the-scenes video here. You can also read more about The Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things spinoffs, which include a stage play called The First Shadow and an animated series.
