Once in a while, a LEGO set comes along that I’d recommend to any builder, regardless of age or disposition. The LEGO Ideas The Evolution of STEM (21355) is one such set. It’s already modestly priced to start with at $80, but Target is offering an exclusive 43% off instant discount, dropping it to $45.99 with free shipping.
The standard going rate for LEGO sets these days is generally around 10 cents per brick. With this deal, this set works out to 5 cents per brick. It’s the best LEGO deal I’ve seen during the Amazon Spring Sale, and it’s not even from Amazon.
43% Off The LEGO Ideas: The Evolution of STEM
The LEGO Ideas The Evolution of STEM is an 879-piece set measuring 10.5″ high, 9″ wide, and 7.5″ deep. The finished build makes for a wonderfu display, since it’s not too small to discern the details but also not too large to hog up a lot of space. The set is a celebration of our advancements in science, technology, engineering, and math and as such, there are a myriad of tiny science-related set pieces going on at once, all in the guise of a pop-up book. There’s barely any repetition here: you’ll build an early car, a home computer, the NASA Voyager Probe, a 3D DNA replica, a bumblebee, a miniature city, and so much more, as well as a few easter eggs for keen science observers.
Of course, no celebration of technology is complete without pioneers of science, and this set delivers with three exclusive minifigures that include Marie Curie, George Washington Carver, and Isaac Newton. The build is catered towards builders ages 18+, but it shouldn’t take more than a few hours for any semi-experienced builder to finish. Honestly, if you’re a fan of STEM-based LEGO builds, this is an absolute no brainer of a purchase.
