While we’re all still reeling over the mismanagement of the recent Pokémon 30th Anniversary Celebration set preorders and 151 shambolic drops at The Pokémon Center, let us perhaps return some attention to the recent restocks that are happening at Amazon right now.
Everything is still listed above MSRP, but the retail giant has quickly become one of the most consistent places to find stock that isn’t from a dodgy third-party seller, and will actually arrive in decent condition, fast. We’ve recently seen Pitch Black ETBs and boosters restocked at around market price, and now we’re seeing something similar with one of the year’s most popular sets so far, Ascended Heroes.
Ascended Heroes Booster Bundles are currently back in stock at Amazon, listed for $95.88. Pricey, I know. It’s close to market price, which sits at around $86.24 right now at resale marketplace TCGplayer, alongside a listed median price of $95 at the time of publication.
If you take delivery into account, Amazon is there or thereabouts; it’s just down to whether you’re willing to pay that much for six Ascended Heroes boosters at either store.
At $95.88, that works out at $15.98 per booster, each containing 10 cards. So that’s 60 cards total, for almost $96. Ouch! Still, it’s pretty consistent with the rest of the set, which continues to rack up some premium rates on the resale market, such as the Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Box, which currently goes for around $170-$175.
Yet, no matter how unfortunate it is, this is often the price you have to pay now, even from big retailers like Amazon. But is it worth it? The market price is often dictated by what the majority of people are willing to pay, but only you can decide if this if truely worth your money.
Ascended Heroes Chase Cards
Mega Evolution’s Ascended Heroes expansion quickly became yet another collector-driven Pokémon TCG release, with demand greatly outweighing the supply and maxing out the value of certain cards.
With Mega Evolutions returning in force and Special Illustration Rares pushing presentation to extravagant new heights, the set has created another sharp divide between playable staples and true luxury chase cards.
While not every premium pull is destined for competitive dominance, each of the top ten most expensive cards so far has earned a lofty market price with jaw-dropping artwork, gameplay relevance, pure scarcity, or a combination of the three.
The most valuable card among the Pokémon TCG’s Ascended Heroes expansion, is Mega Gengar ex. Not only is the artwork grippingly chaotic with five menacing, swirling colours, but Gengar’s predatory grin feels alive within the frame, too. Near mint copies of this card currently run for around $1,273.24 market price, so if you pull one, better hold on to it tight.
