New LEGO Sets: August 2024 and Beyond

It’s August, and that means a new batch of LEGO sets is now available. August is a big month for block-building fans, so you’ll find plenty of flashy new sets to consider picking up, including ones from Mario, Animal Crossing, Star Wars, and more. A number of excellent sets coming later in the year have also been announced, and you can find details about those below. Let’s dive in.

New LEGO Star Wars Sets

The Dark Falcon – $179.99Imperial Star Destroyer – $159.99C-3PO – $139.99The Onyx Cinder – $139.99TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-Up – $109.99Creative Play Droid Builder – $99.99Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit – $79.99Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea – $54.99Jedi Bob’s Starfighter – $39.99

This is a bonkers month for Star Wars fans who like piecing together LEGO sets. There’s a rad Threepio set. There’s an incredible Dark Falcon. There’s a terrific set that comes with both a TIE Fighter and an X-Wing. Plus there’s some guy named Jedi Bob who apparently has a Starfighter. In other words, Star Wars fans are eating well in August, and at least one of these is likely to end up on our list of the best Star Wars LEGO sets at some point.

New LEGO Nintendo Sets

Animal Crossing

K.K.’s Concert in the Plaza – $79.99Fly with Dodo Airlines – $37.99

Super Mario

This month we get a couple of cool Animal Crossing sets, with K.K.’s Concert in the Plaza and Fly with Dodo Airlines. The Super Mario sub-series also gets a ton of new sets, including new starter sets, called Adventures with Interactive Mario/Luigi/Peach. Those come with the interactive figures. New LEGO Marvel Sets

The Avengers Assemble: Age of Ultron – $99.99The Avengers Helicarrier – $79.99The Avengers vs. The Leviathan – $49.99Dancing Groot – $44.99Thor vs. Surtur Construction Figure – $29.99Iron Man & Iron Legion vs. Hydra Soldier – $19.99Iron Man with Bike and The Hulk – $14.99

There are some great Marvel LEGO sets out this month. We’ve got that pricy-ass Guardians of the Galaxy airship, of course. But there’s also an Avengers Helicarrier on a stand that looks great, plus a set that’s Baby Groot in a flowerpot that actually dances when you turn a handle. Very cool.

New LEGO DC Batman Sets

Batman Construction Figure & The Bat-Pod Bike – $64.99The Batcave with Batman, Batgirl & The Joker – $34.99Batman Mech Armor – $14.99

There’s no shortage of Batman LEGO sets, and that trend continues this month. My favorite new release is the Batman with the Batmobile vs. Harley Quinn & Mr. Freeze set, which strikes the exact right price-for-coolness factor, imo. I love the Batman: The Animated Series Batmobile design, as well as the villain minifigures. It’s great overall.

New LEGO Flower Sets

You can now put together flower sets for plumb blossom and chrysanthemums. They both come in buildable vases and will look great on any shelf, desk, counter, or table you put them on.

LEGO Simba The Lion King Cub Is Available at Amazon

There aren’t many new Disney LEGO sets out this month, but I wanted to flag this one. Previously, if you wanted to build a young Simba out of LEGO blocks, you had to buy the much more elaborate (and pricy, at $130) Young Simba set (see it on Amazon). Now you can pick up a much cheaper and even more adorable one for just $20.

LEGO Minecraft The Crafting Table Is Available

It’s a cool collector’s set for LEGO Minecraft fans. It’s actually targeted at the 18+ age group, so it’s probably more for people who grew up playing Minecraft and now harbor some nostalgia for the game.

LEGO Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi Is Up for Preorder

I can’t wait for this set to come out. It’s basically a one-to-one re-creation of the SNES sprite of Mario riding Yoshi from Super Mario World. Turn a crank, and Yoshi walks. Mario’s even wearing his cape. It’s great.

LEGO Jaws Is Coming Soon

This set, which commemorates one of the coolest sequences in movie history, will be available in the coming days. It’s the final shark attack scene, and it’ll be available exclusively on the LEGO Store for Insiders on August 3 (sign up here for free) and for everyone else on August 6.

LEGO Great Deku Tree Is Up for Preorder

It’s not a new preorder, but preorders are back in stock after briefly becoming unavailable after the set was announced. Apparently LEGO wasn’t anticipating the amount of demand it encountered. Such is the case with all things Zelda.

LEGO Shadow the Hedgehog Is Up for Preorder

A classy bust of Shadow the Hedgehog is up for preorder at Target. It’s a nice-looking set, one of the better head/helmet ones I’ve seen outside of the Star Wars line. It will also be available at the LEGO Store, but apparently not for preorder. If you want it there, you’ll have to wait until it releases on October 1.

LEGO Art Mona Lisa Painting Is Up for Preorder

It’s been available for preorder for a while, but we’re still two months out from release. Regardless, this brick-based re-creation of one of the greatest paintings in history is up for preorder, and it’s only $100.
