A brand-new show in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe is in the works, focusing on an Avatar from the water tribe named Kuruk.
The show is titled Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos and takes place three generations before Avatar Aang. Avatar co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are listed as showrunners, with Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios handling production.
As reported by Variety, the show’s logline is as follows: “A rebellious teenage Avatar bucks thousands of years of tradition by choosing to learn the four elements through globetrotting adventures, staying one step ahead of his angry teacher, rowdy pirates, and chaotic spirits – all while helping the world in his own unique ways.”
Paramount also shared a few first-look images at Avatar Kuruk at New York Comic-Con, which show Kurk waterbending, taking in a view of the Northern Water Tribe Capital, and an image of his koala-like animal companion.
This news coincides with Avatar: Seven Havens getting renewed for two additional seasons, bringing the total to four. The first three episodes in season one premiered today, October 9, on Paramount+, and three episodes will air weekly every Friday through October 30. At the time of writing, Book 2 does not yet have an official release date.
