MobLand Season 2 Trailer Confirms Paramount+ Release Date and a First Look at the Returning Tom Hardy — but Will He Appear in Season 3?

MobLand Season 2 has its debut trailer and a release date, showing a first look at Tom Hardy’s Harry Da Souza following the events of Season 1.

Season 2 hits Paramount+ on September 18 and, according to the trailer, we see the Harrigan family on the brink of civil war. Perhaps as a nod to all the speculation about Hardy’s ongoing role on MobLand, the trailer starts with The Dark Knight Rises and Venom actor telling a terrified captive that “this hasn’t exactly been a wonderful 24 hours for me, yeah? I’m under a lot of pressure.”

In May, the trades reported that Hardy had not been asked to return to MobLand as a result of alleged on-set clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser’s 101 Studios, as well as others involved with the show. Puck, which broke the news, claimed Hardy was frequently late to set, tried to change dialogue for the show, and grew displeased that MobLand was shifting its focus to an ensemble production. When Butterworth threatened to quit, Paramount allegedly seemed more interested in dropping Hardy instead. It later emerged that Hardy hadn’t been fired, rather his future on MobLand was “in limbo.”

The Hollywood Reporter has now said Hardy’s future on MobLand for Season 3, which is said to be likely, hasn’t yet been made official and thus remains up in the air. Assuming MobLand Season 3 gets the go-ahead, production will kick off later this year, THR added. But will Hardy be along for the ride?

Variety believes he will. It said “a recent meeting in London between Hardy and the show’s higher ups led to a breakthrough and ultimately his return.”

Here’s the official blurb on Season 2:

“In Season 2 of the Paramount+ original series MobLand, the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire – and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer,’ must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify. As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.”
