Pokémon cards will return to McDonald’s Happy Meals soon, with 15 more cards to collect.
According to PokéBeach, branches of McDonald’s in the U.S. will feature packs of cards in Happy Meals from November 5 to December 9 this year, meaning you have just a month to collect them all.
As with previous versions of this hugely-popular promotion, 15 cards will be on offer via individual four-card booster packs, each of which will feature three regular cards and one holo.
Currently, there’s no word on which cards will be included. Past years have seen the promotional packs simply feature reprints of existing cards (albeit with an exclusive McDonald’s logo). But there is some hope that this set will feature something a bit more special, too.
Fans are still waiting for the Pikachu card that launched in Japan last year via a similar McDonald’s Happy Meal promotion. It features a cute design with Pikachu reaching across the table towards a burger and some vegetables. (Just don’t ask what’s in the burger patty, I guess?)
That said, it remains to be seen whether this card will make the leap over to U.S. shores. If you recall, last year’s Japanese promotion resulted in mass scenes of food waste, with uneaten burgers dumped in the streets, as fans and scalpers hunted for the card, and others. The retail chain then promptly ended the giveaways early and introduced tighter rules to clamp down on Pokémon scalping for future promotions.
McDonald’s is yet to confirm any of this promotion itself, though is expected to announce it and more details in the coming days.
