I’ve Hunted Down Today’s Most Massive Discounts on Console and PC Must-Owns

Some days the deals just feel like kismet. I’ve been running my 15-year-old son through Red Dead Redemption for his first time, and while watching I’ve fallen head-over-spurs for it all over again. Serendipitously, I now see it’s also gone on sale today for you! Pro tip, though: when that Mexico section opens up, stay on your bloody horse. Trust me. Don’t do what my boy did and go pick flowers. You’ll ruin one of gaming’s most magical moments. *Sigh*

This Day in Gaming 🎂

In retro news, In retro news, I’m using a Critical Finish from Nightmare’s soul-devouring blade to ignite a 16-candle cake baked for SoulCalibur IV. As a series fan since ye olde SoulBlade days, I was always going to love this, and it’s a sin that it’s no longer available to buy.

Back at launch, it felt like a final-form moment for the franchise. The visuals were blisteringly sharp, the online play was a game changer, and the Create-A-Soul feature became a dangerously deep time sink. That said it was the collision of Force powers and medieval steel that made jaws drop. Nobody expected Yoda (X360 version), Darth Vader (PS3) or Starkiller (both) to cross swords with Mitsurugi and Ivy. Yet here we were, mashing combos and dodging Force Chokes. It was absurd, brilliant and unforgettable.

Aussie birthdays for notable games.

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch

On Switch, Zelda: Breath of the Wild still feels like Nintendo’s finest hour. It redefined open-world design, encourages absurd experimentation, and gave us the freedom to microwave bokoblins with lightning rods. Also worth calling out is Tunic, a deceptively hard isometric puzzler where a cute fox explores a world inspired by Zelda and Fez. The trick? Its in-game manual is written in a made-up language that you must decipher to unlock secrets.

This is a bluepoint-style remake of Snake Eater, a Kojima classic that still has one of the longest sniper boss fights in history. Pure Scores for PlayStation

PS5-wise, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is looking like a comeback miracle. You get two beloved levels remade in HD, all thanks to the Vicarious Visions team that nailed the first two. And for budget fun, NBA 2K25 is already diving to a ridiculous price (though you’ll need to grind VC to stop your baller from starting life as a snail).

The old beast has some absolute steals too. Red Dead Redemption is a wild west masterpiece from Rockstar that still packs emotional punch and cinematic clout. Meanwhile, Armored Core VI will scratch that mech-combat itch you never knew you had, and it’s FromSoftware at their most explosive.

Purchase Cheap for PC

On PC, Octopath Traveller 1 + 2 Bndl. gives you two mammoth JRPGs in one, both sporting that luscious HD-2D art. There’s a story for every taste, and the music is all-timer tier. I’m also nodding to Jedi Survivor, a combat-rich Star Wars adventure that lets you blast, slash, and Force-push your way through Order 66 trauma and beyond.
