How The Infernal Hulk vs. The Avengers Sets Up a Massive 2027 Crossover

Marvel Comics is positioning Hulk War: Infernal Rage as one of its key crossover storylines for 2027. The climax of writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s Hulk saga so far, Hulk War: Infernal Rage explores what happens when Hulk (now possessed by a demonic entity known as The Eldest) amasses an army of corrupted heroes and declares war on the Marvel Universe. And while that story doesn’t officially kick off until February, Marvel is set to publish a crucial lead-in story this December.

IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of The Infernal Hulk vs. The Avengers #1, the last of Marvel’s Hulk war prelude specials. Check it out in the slideshow gallery below:

The Infernal Hulk vs. The Avengers #1 is written by Johnson, with art by Carlos Magno and a cover by Nic Klein. Here’s Marvel’s official summary of the issue:

WHO SURVIVES THE FINAL BATTLE BEFORE THE WAR? INFERNAL HULK has gathered his armies, his fortress and now his champions. All the pieces are on the board, and all of our greatest heroes have been corrupted except the last of THE AVENGERS. Can they succeed where all others have failed? The MARCH TO HULK WAR ends here!

Look for The Infernal Hulk vs. The Avengers #1 to hit stores on December 2, followed by Hulk War: Infernal Rage #1 in February. You can preorder these comics at your local comic shop.
