While a video message last week from Vin Diesel in costume as Dominic Torreto – and standing in front of the character’s iconic black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T – appeared to suggest production was finally officially underway on Fast & Furious 11 (officially known as Fast Forever), TheWrap is reporting that this is not the case.
Last Friday, Diesel shared a video message via his Instagram account thanking fans for their patience regarding the final installment of the Fast & Furious series.
“I’m on set,” said Diesel in his behind-the-scenes recording. “People are grinding. Incredible crews are working. I wanted to take a second to say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world; best fans in the world. You’ve been patient to the industry, you’ve been patient to the studio, and you’ve been patient with me.”
“Over the past three and a half years we’ve been grinding to try to make the most amazing finale… I can feel your support, and that means the world to me. So, let me get back to this filming, and just know that I hope to make you all proud.”
However, over the weekend, it became evident that this filming appears most immediately related to a World Cup promo that aired in the US during the US vs. Belgium game.
Universal Studios has declined to comment.
Fast Forever, the long-delayed and supposedly final chapter in the Fast and Furious film saga, is scheduled to hit cinemas on Friday, March 17, 2028. The release date and title was finally announced by Universal earlier this year. Little other information is known about the project, which has no confirmed cast yet.
