Some companies, like Nintendo, try to spread their releases relatively evenly throughout the year. LEGO goes the other way. Its releases vary wildly from month to month. July, for instance, had only a few new LEGO releases. Then comes August, when LEGO is releasing dozens upon dozens of new sets all at once. Hope you only like one, because some of the coolest August 2026 LEGO sets cost upwards of $100, and for those on budgets, it might be hard to justify picking up more than one.

This month’s new LEGO Pokémon sets come in two flavors: standard and SMART Play. The standard sets are all geared toward the 18+ age range, making them LEGO sets for adults. The SMART Play sets are more geared towards kids who want to build their favorite pocket monsters and then play with them, complete with lights and sounds.
LEGO Ideas: The X-Files
When it comes to the existence of aliens, the truth is out there. And to prove it, this LEGO set has you build a multi-layered display featuring a hovering UFO, a forest scene with a gray alien, and Fox Mulder’s office.
LEGO Ideas: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
Jurassic Park and Jaws have gotten LEGO sets, so why not Spielberg’s 1981 classic E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial? The lovable rotund alien is finally getting his due with this set, which features a pot of sunflowers and a glowing finger.
LEGO Super Mario: Donkey Kong Arcade
This gorgeous retro-style set celebrates one of the most important video games in the history of the medium. Not only was it a hit with arcade-goers in the early eighties, but it introduced Mario to the world (then known as Jumpman).
LEGO Animal Crossing: Timmy & Tommy’s Fun Day Out
There’s only one new Animal Crossing set, but I love it so much. It’s Timmy & Tommy’s Fun Day Out, which depicts the twin bros relaxing on a bridge while fishing. It even has a present parachuting in on a balloon.

Four new Star Wars LEGO sets are out this month, but my favorite of the bunch is this Boba Fett build. It looks great, capturing the awesome Beskar armor of the original Mandalorian.
LEGO K-Pop Demon Hunters: Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird
LEGO teased it before revealing it, but it’s here now for anyone who wants to buy it. It’s Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird from the Netflix hit K-Pop Demon Hunters.

A handful of new One Piece LEGO sets is out this month. My favorite is Garp’s Marine Battleship, a hulking war machine that’s battle-ready and ready to sail the seas.
LEGO Architecture: Tower Bridge
LEGO Architecture might seem boring compared to some of the flashier licensed sets, but I love this line of sets. This latest addition is the famous Tower Bridge in London. It’s a bridge with two towers springing up in the middle of it. It even has a tiny double-decker bus driving across it.
LEGO Art: Gustav Klimt – The Kiss
Another under-appreciated line of LEGO sets is LEGO Art, which re-creates timeless masterpieces in block form. The Kiss is a gorgeous abstract painting by the Austrian master Gustav Klimt. The LEGO version has vibrant colors and all the rectangles and circles that adorn the original. It’s lovely.

Olivia Rodrigo just released a new album, is kicking off her Unraveled tour, and even popping up in Fortnite. All of which makes now a good time to pick up one of her new LEGO sets. I like the guitar one.
LEGO Icons: Hubble Space Telescope
The block-building company has a long history of putting out excellent LEGO space sets. The newest addition is the Hubble Space Telescope, which was launched into space in 1990, giving humanity a deeper look into outer space.
