Andor Season 2 Turns Star Wars: Rogue One Into a ‘Different Film,’ Star Diego Luna Says

Andor Season 2 will turn Rogue One: A Star Wars Story into a completely “different film,” its star Diego Luna has said.

This appears centred around the introduction of K-2SO, colloquially known as Kaytoo, who is the partner droid of Luna’s Cassian Andor in Rogue One but didn’t make an appearance in prequel series Andor’s Season 1.

“You’re going to see why Kaytoois so important in Rogue One, and how does he get to be such an important character for the Rebellion,” Luna told Entertainment Weekly.

“I think people watching Rogue One, after watching Season 2, are going to see a different film. Everything will be signified differently knowing what had to happen for Kaytoo to be there. It’s going to make you witness the journey of Rogue One in a different way, I think. And not just with Kaytoo, but with many other characters. I think it’ll be really cool.”

Andor is among the most beloved Star Wars shows, telling the story of its reluctant title character as he becomes involved with the Rebel Alliance and fights to overthrow the Empire. Season 2 will see this transition fully realised as it takes place in the days leading up to Rogue One.

Disney hasn’t revealed a release date for Andor Season 2 yet, but it was originally expected in August 2024 before the writer and actor strikes forced it into 2025.

In our 9/10 review of the first season, IGN said: “Andor is one of the very best TV shows of the year and as good as Star Wars has been in a long, long time.”
