Today there’s a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU that’s actually priced below MSRP! Lenovo is currently offering the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING TRIO 24GB Graphics Card for only $1519.99 after a 5% off coupon code “EXTRAFIVE“. Note that aside from seeing this same deal once before (it sold out quickly), we haven’t seen another RTX 4090 for under MSRP for at least a year. If you’d rather wait for Amazon Prime Day, don’t bother. There is absolutely no indication that you’ll see a better price than this within the next few days.
MSI GeForce RTX 4090 GPU for Only $1519.99
The GeForce RTX 4090 is one of our top GPU picks of 2024. It is far and away the most powerful video card you can get right now. No other GPU, either from NVIDIA or from AMD, comes close. As a reference, the RTX 4090 is about 110% faster at 4K gaming than the already impressive RTX 3080. It’s about 60% faster than the previous king, the RTX 3090 Ti. That could very well be the single biggest performance upgrade within a single generational gap for the GeForce line of cards. Check out our comprehensive RTX 4090 review.
The MSI Gaming Trio model boasts a massive 3 slot triple-fan cooler that does an outstanding job of keeping the GPU cool, and does so at respectable noise levels. The backplate has a vented passthrough design to help move air over your hot motherboard southbridge compenents. The fans are thermally controlled, so they won’t spin at all when you’re not playing games or doing anything intensive.
The MSI Suprim Liquid X RTX 4090 Is Also on Sale
The MSI Suprim Liquid X RTX 4090 has a self-contained watercooled unit. Make sure you have space in your PC to mount the 240mm radiator. If you do, you’ll have the best stock cooling solution for an RTX 4090 GPU on the market. The extra cooling isn’t really meant for overclocks (the 4090 is fast enough). Instead, it’s meant for the GPU to run cooler and quieter than air-cooling. Because the radiator can be mounted away from the GPU and works to exhaust the hot air directly our of your computer case, your GPU area won’t be super toasty. Lower sustained temps also means lower fan noise.
But is the GeForce RTX 4090 worth it?
There are many reasons why you’d want such a powerful GPU. If you game in 4K and want the maximum performance even with every setting on “Ultra” and ray-tracing on, or high resolution VR, then yes, I’d say it is worth it. If you game at 1440p and want to play at a blistering 240-480fps on any game, then yes, it’s worth it, If you’re invested in AI and need the VRAM, then again may be worth it. If you’re more than happy running games at 1080p or 1440p at 100+fps, or if you play older games like League of Legends of Fortnite, then it most you’d probably be better off getting a more affordable card.
