Bowling With Corpses and Other Tales From Lands Unknown was easily one of 2025's most exciting comic book releases. Not only was it a new original graphic novel written and drawn by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, it also introduced a brand new shared fantasy universe. Now Mignola is expanding that shared universe with a sequel called Uri Tupka and the Gods: Another Story From Lands Unknown.

Uri Tupka and the Gods is written and drawn by Mignola, with colors by longtime collaborator Dave Stewart. Here's the official summary of the new book:
A wayward theologian travels across mysterious lands and goes up against mythic monsters, bandits, and more in pursuit of proof of the existence of the old gods.
In this story of the search for gods in a world that feels abandoned by them, the titular hero travels a pilgrim road in his quest for answers. Along the way he encounters dragons, giants, devils, and a tomb of unspeakable horror, and learns not just the truth about the universe but the gravity of his own role in it.
“This is the first of two books tracing the life of Uri Tupka, former Doctor of Theology but now heretic, on the run as he looks for the truth about the gods,” said Mignola in a statement. “See Uri barely escape one disaster after another—pirates, bandits, witches and demons, giants and monsters. There is also a talking cat and a queen of the vegetables because, of course, why wouldn’t there be? This one covers a whole lot of ground, and we get to see more of the world that was introduced in Bowling with Corpses. As with Bowling, this is some of the most fun I’ve ever had drawing comics. The more I wander around in this world, the more I want to see, the more I want to explore. I’m already well into the follow up book to this one (Uri Tupka and the Devils) with plans to do many more stories about this world. I feel that so far I’m still just scratching at the surface of this thing.”
Uri Tupka and the Gods: Another Story From Lands Unknown will be released on March 31, 2026.
