Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC Reportedly Canceled by WB

An unannounced paid DLC for Hogwarts Legacy has been canceled, according to a Bloomberg report.

Per Bloomberg’s sources, Warner Bros. was planning a paid story expansion to its Harry Potter adventure game, Hogwarts Legacy, that would have released this year alongside a “Definitive Edition” of the game.

However, WB canceled the DLC this week, allegedly due to concerns that “the amount of content was not substantial enough to justify the price being considered,” per Bloomberg. WB declined Bloomberg’s request for comment.

Warner Bros. has been actively restructuring its gaming division amidst ongoing financial struggles. Earlier this year, it canceled its planned Wonder Woman game and closed down the studio making it, Monolith Productions, alongside WB San Diego and MultiVersus studio Player First Games. WB also laid off employees at Rocksteady just last September.

Despite this cancelation, WB has stated repeatedly that Hogwarts Legacy and Harry Potter in general are among its most important assets, having said that a sequel to the game is “one of the biggest priorities” at the company as it focuses on fewer and bigger franchises. The first game has sold over 30 million copies.
