Edgar Wright’s upcoming remake of 1987 film The Running Man starring Glen Powell got a release date today from Paramount of November 21, 2025, Variety reports.
The Running Man was previously announced to begin filming this fall in London, starring Powell in the role originated by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987 and based on the 1982 novel by Stephen King. It takes place in a dystopian 2019 where criminals join a TV competition and are hunted by professional killers.
Other Paramount films also saw some changes to their release dates for next year, including the animated Smurfs musical starring Rihanna as Smurfette jumping from February 14 to July 18. Rihanna will be joined by a stacked cast that includes Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell, and John Goodman.
Paramount also moved the reboot of Naked Gun starring Liam Neeson from July 18 to August 1, and horror movie Vicious starring Dakota Fanning moved from August 8 back to February 25.
Historical drama September 5 also received a limited release date of November 29, 2024 and a full release on December 13, 2024. The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival earlier this year.
Powell himself has been busy this year, having starred in Twisters, hinting at a Top Gun: Maverick sequel, and appearing in the upcoming Family Guy Halloween special.
