The new HP Omen 35L gaming PC debuted at Gamescom 2024 and it’s finally available for purchase. Best Buy not only has the RTX 4080 Super model in stock and shipping immediately, it’s even discounted. Right now you can have it delivered to your door for only $2049.99 after a $400 instant discount. The RTX 4080 Super is Nvidia’s second most powerful GPU and we picked it as the best GPU for 4K gaming (for most people). It will comfortably run any game at any resolution, even at up to 4K with ray tracing enabled, and it costs at least $1,000 less than an RTX 4090 gaming PC.
HP Omen 35L RTX 4080 Super Gaming PC
This PC features an AMD Ryzen 7 8700G CPU, RTX 4080 Super GPU, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and 2TB SSD. The AMD Ryzen 7 8700G is one of the latest Zen4 processors to be released and has a max boost clock of 5.1GHz with 8 cores, 16 threads, and a 16MB cache. It’s cooled by a 120mm tower heatsink fan, which should be more than adequate since the 8700G is an extremely power efficient low voltage chip. This is a very capable processor that excels at both gaming and workstation tasks and is one of the first processors to be equipped with Ryzen AI.
The new GeForce RTX 4080 Super offers you more than enough horsepower to handle any game in 4K at high framerates, even with max settings and ray tracing enabled. It’s 5%-10% faster in performance than the RTX 4080 thanks to its higher base clock speed, higher CUDA core count, and higher memory bandwidth. It trades blows with AMD’s most powerful GPU, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, but the RTX 4080 Super pulls ahead in ray tracing performance and with DLSS enabled. What’s new about the Omen 35L?
HP touts the Omen 35 as its “first gaming desktop designed with Omen components”. What that essentially means is that many of the parts that were originally sourced elsewhere are now designed in-house by HP. That includes the power supply units, the case fans, and the cooling systems. The OMEN 35L itself is a good looking, mid-tower chassis with a sensible airflow design; two large 140mm fans bring air in from the front and a rear 120mm fan exhausts it out the rear. Some of the higher end models are also equipped with a 240mm liquid cooler that exhaust air out the top. Overall this looks like a promising redesign that prioritizes cooling and ease-of-use.
