I think we can all agree that Calvin and Hobbes is an S-tier comic strip, one of the best ever. Right now, if you’re a Prime member, you can get the hardcover box set of the complete run of Calvin and Hobbes on sale for $99.99 at Amazon. That’s a lot cheaper than the MSRP of $225. Not a bad deal for a box set of three gorgeous hardcover volumes filled with delightful art and writing.
The Complete Calvin and Hobbes Hardcover Box Set Deal
Created by Bill Watterson, Calvin and Hobbes ran from 1985 to 1995. It’s about a boy named Calvin (who’s something of a troublemaker) and his stuffed-animal tiger that comes to life in Calvin’s imagination. All told, Calvin and Hobbes appeared in over 2,400 newspapers during its 10-year run.
This high-quality collection is comprised of three hardcover books, in full color where appropriate, that fit nicely in a sturdy slipcover case. The entire run of the syndicated series is here, presented across 1440 pages. It’s a gorgeous collection of what I consider the best comic strip of all time. You won’t likely find another deal this good on this collection anytime soon.
These comics are also available in a four-volume paperback set that’s currently on sale for $84.76 (no Prime membership required), as well as a series of portable compendium sets. The various configurations of these strips are all well and good, but for my money, the hardcover set looks the best on the shelf.
