The Emmy-winning star of FX's breakout drama The Bear is headed to Star Wars for one of his next roles — though the role itself may not be quite what you're expecting.

According to a report from The Insneider that was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Allen White is joining the upcoming Star Wars film The Mandalorian & Grogu. Interestingly, he'll reportedly be providing the voice of Rotta the Hutt, the son of infamous galaxy gangster Jabba the Hutt.

There's a lot of pressure behind The Mandalorian & Grogu, Star Wars' first outing on the big screen since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. It was revealed in a surprise announcement early this year, which said it will "lead Lucasfilm's ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni" that were revealed at Star Wars Celebration in 2023.

Directed by The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, it's currently set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026. And White isn't the only big star to have joined its cast as of late; Alien and Avatar star Sigourney Weaver recently confirmed she'll finally be making her Star Wars debut in The Mandalorian & Grogu.

As for White, it's just the latest news in his quickly rising career over the past few years. He first rose to prominence in the long-running Showtime series Shameless before coming into bonafide stardom in the culinary drama The Bear, for which he's won two Emmys and two Golden Globes for his portrayal of Chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto. He also appeared alongside Zac Efron in last year's sports drama The Iron Claw.
