The best Apple deal for Prime Day is now available. Amazon has just dropped the price of the Apple AirPods Pro truly wireless noise cancelling earbuds to only $168.99 after a 33% discount. This is an outstanding deal for the best Airpods earbuds and the lowest price we’ve seen for the second generation model. In fact, right now it’s less expensive than the Apple AirPods 4 with noise cancelling, and for most people the AirPods Pro 2 is the better choice.
Lowest Price Ever on the Apple AirPods Pro
For the most part, the second generation AirPods Pro earbuds is identical to its predecessor with one major exception. The new model replaces the legacy Lightning port with a more universal USB Type-C port. For people who want to bring along a single charging cable for all of their mobile devices, this is a godsend. Two other more trivial upgrades include dust resistance and lossless audio support when paired with Apple’s Vision Pro headset.
Even with the release of the new AirPods 4 earbuds, the AirPods Pro is the best sounding “truly wireless” earbuds for iPhone users thanks to its low-distortion driver and amp combined with the Apple H2 chip. In addition to active noise cancellation, the Pro features “Adaptive Transparency Mode” to pick up ambient noises so you can hear your surroundings and “Conversation Mode” that automatically lowers the volume enhances the voices of people you’re talking to.
Should you get the AirPods Pro over AirPods 4 with ANC?
With few exceptions, this is an easy question to answer. The AirPods Pro 2 is simply a superior earbud for a lower price. While the AirPods 4 does feature active noise cancellation like the AirPods Pro, it is an open-ear style earbud with fixed (non-adjustable tips). It’s meant to sit outside of the ear, which means there’s plenty of sound leakage and ambient noise intrusion. The AirPods Pro’s in-ear style of earbud combined with the customized fit from the adjustable eartips means you get a better seal, better passive isolation, and in turn better sound quality. Really the only reason you should choose the AirPods 4 is if you don’t like the inherently intrusive nature of in-ear earbuds in general.
