If you’re willing to splurge on a higher end TV and you like Sony, here’s a Black Friday deal that’s right up your alley. Amazon and Best Buy have both discounted all sizes of the 2025 Sony Bravia XR8B 4K OLED Google TV down to their lowest prices of the year. That means 77-inch, 65-inch, and 55-inch TVs are all on sale right now. Although the Bravia 8 is priced lower than most OLED TVs, it’s still an outstanding candidate for streaming 4K HDR movies or playing games in 4K at up to 120fps on your PlayStation 5 console.
2025 Sony Bravia XR8B 4K OLED TVs on Sale for Black Friday
The Sony Bravia XR8B is a 2025 release that replaces last year’s XR8. It uses a W-OLED panel so image quality is comparable to Samsung’s S85F and LG’s B5 OLED TV models. Since this is a true OLED panel, the Sony Bravia XR8B boasts near instantaneous response time, near infinite contrast ratio, and true blacks. It’s superior to any other panel type in nearly every scenario except for one: super bright rooms with no light control (OLEDs aren’t as bright as Mini LED or LED LCD TVs). The Bravia 8 supports HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision video formats and Dolby Atmos and DTS audio.
OLED technology aside, the XR8B has all the features you’d want in a gaming TV, which isn’t surprising considering the fact that Sony also makes the PlayStation 5 console. The XR8B boasts a native 120Hz panel and two HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K gaming at up to 120fps. It also supports standard gaming features like variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM). Despite this being a Sony TV, it pairs equally well with an Xbox console.
Is this TV good for Nintendo Switch 2?
Despite being a current generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2 has lax TV requirements compared to the PS5 or Xbox Series X. When the Switch is connected to its dock and a television, it is only capable of outputting a 4K resolution signal at up to 60 frames per second. It can go up to 120fps if the resolution drops to 1080p, but the data rate required for both these options is pretty much the same, and you would much rather play any game in 4K. That said, the Switch 2 will still benefit greatly from the OLED panel’s stellar image quality (much like how the Switch OLED was a substantial visual upgrade from the original Switch).
The Bravia XR8B has a cool feature called “Acoustic Surface Audio” technology, which essentially places the speakers right behind the screen, thus removing any unnecessary bezel space and giving the impression that the sound is coming directly from the video itself. It’s also better than your average TV speakers and you’ll probably have to pay at least a few hundred dollars to get a better discrete sound system.
Finally, Sony OLED TVs use Google TV as its smart interface. Google TV is intuitive to use and supports voice commands through Google Assistant. You can also pair it with an Android phone to use as a remote.
