Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 Coming to Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has announced the beloved Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are headed to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, as part of Super Mario’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

Both titles will launch, as a combined release, on October 2, 2025. Intriguingly, these fresh additions will include fresh pages of Rosalina’s in-game storybook — which contains some very interesting lore for the character.

Shigeru Miyamoto made the announcement today during the company’s major Nintendo Direct, which also offered a first look at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the upcoming sequel to the smash-hit Super Mario Movie, which is due to launch next spring. Presumably the new storybook pages will tie into The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s plot, somehow.

Accompanying the release will be a pair of new Super Mario Galaxy amiibo, though their features are as-yet unknown.

Other announcements including sponsorship of the Kyoto Marathon 2026 and a fresh design for the Nintendo Museum ticket.
