Dell has just dropped the price on its flagship Alienware m18 R2 gaming laptop. Right now you can get it for $2,999.99 after a $600 instant discount. The Alienware m18 “R2” model was released earlier this year; this is Dell’s highest-end gaming laptop. This is an absolute monster of a gaming laptop that performs better than most desktop PCs.
Alienware m18 R2 RTX 4090 Gaming Laptop
The Alienware m18 is the biggest Alienware laptop you can buy, with an imposing 18″ 2560×1600 display and a hefty weight 8.9 pounds. This laptop is clearly designed to be a mobile desktop replacement rather than a travel-friendly laptop. The Alienware m18 boasts exceptional build quality with a premium bead-blasted anodized aluminum chassis, full-sized keyboard with numpad, and an aggressive Cryo-Tech cooling sytem that incorporates a vapor chamber with quad heatpipes and four system fans exhausing heat out of the case.
Full specs include an 18″ 2560×1600 QHD 165Hz display, Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 (mobile) GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th generation Intel Core i9-14900HX processor boasts 24 cores and 32 threads with a max turbo clock speed of 5.8GHz. The RTX 4090 is still the most powerful mobile GPU on the market, and by a very substantial margin. It’s roughly equivalent to a desktop RTX 3090 GPU. It has more than enough power to run most games at a full 165fps on the 2560×1600 display. Some gaming laptop manufacturers limit the GPU in order to reduce heat and power requirements. The m18 laptop, however, is not limited at all. Instead it compensates with an incredibly robust cooling system. This does add weight and power consumption (this one comes with a 330W power brick), but gaming performance is paramount.
