PlayStation VR2 Drops to Its Lowest Price Ever in the UK

PlayStation VR 2 has dropped to just £349 at most major UK retailers, alongside its Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle dropping to just £389. This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen for the VR headset, but there’s no sign of a similar deal for the US just yet.

But, this comes at the perfect time for those in the UK, as the PSVR2 will soon be getting Steam support, which will massively expand the potential games available on the headset.

Sony just dropped a new app on Valve’s digital distribution store, which will be used to update the firmware for the PSVR2 hardware, allow users to adjust settings such as screen brightness, and establish a play area for the device via the SteamVR dashboard.

What We Said in Our Review

We absolutely adored the PSVR2, awarding it with a 9/10 in our PSVR2 review. Reviewer Gabriel Moss stated that the headset is “a quantum leap over the original PSVR in terms of ease of use, visual quality, and immersion” and that any “PlayStation owner who loves VR should upgrade as soon as possible.” It’s a virtual reality device that also landed on our list of the best VR headsets, making it a worthwhile purchase for PlayStation owners looking to be fully absorbed in some high-quality games.

Using The PSVR 2 on Steam

The new Steam listing shares the system requirements to run Steam VR games on PSVR2. These remain unchanged from what Sony previously confirmed. To get the best performance, the company recommends that your PC gaming rig be equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, an AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, or a newer GPU, such as the RTX 40 series. A ~$60 PC adapter will also be needed to run PSVR2 on a PC.

The PSVR2 Steam app will be released on August 6 — a day before the PC adapter is officially released. The device aims to expand the versatility of the premium VR gaming headset as Sony tries to expand the PSVR2’s gaming library beyond locking it to the PS5 gaming hardware ecosystem.
