Dune: Part 2 star Rebecca Ferguson is teaming up with Cillian Murphy to star in Netflix’s upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.
As reported by Deadline, Ferguson has officially boarded the project, but details on her role remain a mystery. She’s the first of what could be other high-profile stars to join the spinoff film, which Netflix officially announced last month. At the time of its reveal, the streamer promised that the movie based on the popular series of the same name will see the return of Murphy as Thomas Shelby.
Ferguson’s casting in the Peaky Blinders movie adds to her already strong run in recent releases. In addition to returning for Dune 2 earlier this year, she’s appeared in 2023’s Silo and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. She also starred in the director Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 Dune film, as well as Doctor Sleep in 2020, Men in Black: International in 2019, and The Greatest Showman in 2017.
The Peaky Blinders movie’s plot remains a mystery as well, though we do know that it will be directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders, Wild Rose) and written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises). Knight and Murphy will produce the movie alongside Caryn Mandabach and Guy Heeley. Made in association with BBC Film, the Peaky Blinders movie will be executive produced by Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason.
Netflix has not revealed a release date for the Peaky Blinders movie yet. While we wait for more news, you can read about some of the other spinoff plans in the works.
