One Piece Season 2 Adds Game of Thrones’ Clive Russell and More

Netflix’s live action One Piece series has added Game of Thrones actor Clive Russell as Crocus in Season 2.

Revealed on X/Twitter, Netflix has announced three additional cast members for the adaptation which inadvertently reveals more about what the Straw Hats will get up to in Season 2.

Alongside Russell as Crocus, Werner Coetser joins as the giant Dorry and Brendan Murray joins as the giant Brogy. This all but confirms two smaller manga arcs will feature in Season 2 of the Netflix show: Reverse Mountain and Little Garden.

Adaptations typically chop and change the source material, but confirmation of these characters suggests the live action show will generally stick to the manga’s story. The writers have already confirmed the Drum Island arc will feature too, and as it has announced myriad Baroque Works castings too, the last chunk of the Arabasta arc will presumably feature too.

Season 2 has also added David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, and Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9. Jamie Lee Curtis is all but confirmed to play Doctor Kureha too, but this isn’t official yet.

Little else has been said about Season 2 since its renewal in September 2023, though Netflix is reportedly targeting a 2025 premiere date with filming expected to begin in June 2024.

It will certainly present some interesting challenges for the Netflix team as it introduces a three foot tall human/reindeer hybrid called Tony Tony Chopper to the main cast of characters. It’s also played around with some expectations regarding another major Season 2 character, which will likely be fully addressed at some point during the season.
