Capcom has announced Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, which brings seven fan-favorite fighting games together in one collection later in 2024.
Capcom announced Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics as coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 (it’ll be playable on PlayStation 5 also), and PC via Steam, but Xbox was conspicuous by its absence, which means owners of Microsoft’s consoles (Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S) miss out.
The collection includes X-Men Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and beat ‘em-up The Punisher.
New features include the original songs from the arcade releases, development docs, and never-before-seen art. There are additional training settings, too, with one-button specials for newcomers. Helpfully, you can save and load whenever you want, so if you lose a fight you can try again quickly.
Meanwhile, you can view the original marquee cards while playing offline, and, while online, there’s rollback netcode for a hopefully smooth experience. Speaking of online play, there’s casual matches, lobby matches for friends, and ranked matches.
Fans are already speculating that Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics may pave the way for Marvel vs. Capcom 4. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite launched in 2017 and there hasn’t been another mainline Marvel vs. Capcom game since.
