Jurassic World Rebirth Makes Scarlett Johansson the Highest Grossing Lead Actor Ever, Overtaking Marvel costars Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson

The MCU is full of breadwinners, folks — and Scarlett Johansson is now at the top of that list. Following the release of her latest film Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson has been crowned the highest grossing lead actor of all time.

With Jurassic World Rebirth grossing a whopping $316 million globally at just six days into its theatrical run, Johansson was able to shoot up from third place on the highest-grossing lead actor list all the way to first. In the process, she surpassed two of her longtime Marvel costars, Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson, according to The Numbers.

Jackson’s lifetime box office number — a staggering $14.6 billion — kept him in the top spot before ScarJo swooped in, and Downey was a very close second at $14.3 billion. But the Black Widow star has officially usurped them both, relegating Jackson to second place and Downey to third with an incredible $14.8 billion.

Interestingly enough, Johansson was able to reach such a feat with noticeably fewer films on her resume than either of her costars. To date, she has starred in 36 films, while Jackson hit first place with 71 and RDJ reached second with 45.

All three actors have their Marvel work to thank for their undeniable box office success. For ScarJo’s part, her MCU outputs — which include Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Iron Man 2, and her 2021 solo film Black Widow — make up nearly $10.5 billion of her lifetime earnings.
