HBO’s Dune: Prophecy Gets November Release Window and New Teaser

HBO not only released a new teaser for its upcoming Dune: Prophecy series today, but also revealed when it will premiere: this November.

Today’s new footage isn’t our first look at the drama series – HBO released a first teaser back in May – but it does include some fresh teases about what we can expect from the six-episode season. The show follows the making of the sect that would become the Bene Gesserit, and we get some glimpses of that, as a voiceover intones, “you wish to serve the great houses and shape the flow of power, you must first exert power over yourself.”

Another line in the trailer teases some of the obstacles this sect will face: “The more influence our sisterhood gains, the more enemies we make.” The teaser then shows various short glimpses of the inevitable political battles the sect will encounter in their rise to prominence.

True power begins with control.

Read the official logline for the the series below:

From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, DUNE: PROPHECY follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. DUNE: PROPHECY is inspired by the novel SISTERHOOD OF DUNE, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

The Dune spinoff series was first announced all the way back in 2019 as an original for Warner Bros. Discovery’s then-upcoming streaming service, HBO Max (now simply Max). However, it was recently rebranded as an HBO Original along with other series like The Penguin and the upcoming Harry Potter show. It’s also undergone a name change, changing from Dune: The Sisterhood to Dune: Prophecy last November after a number of reported “creative changes” behind the scenes.

Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer of Dune: Prophecy, while Diane Ademu-John co-developed the series and serves as executive producer. Anna Foerster executive produced and directed multiple episodes including the first.

The cast includes Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha.

On the film side, meanwhile, Denis Villeneuve is reported to be developing his third Dune movie, and it’s expected to potentially arrive in 2026.
