Grab Frank Herbert’s Dune Box Set at a Major Discount Before the Dune: Part 3 Hype Increases the Price

The new trailer for Dune: Part 3 just dropped and it looks incredible. The third movie will mark the end of Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy and is currently set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. If you haven’t already read the source material for the films, right now is a great time to do so at an affordable price. Amazon recently dropped the price of Frank Herbert’s Dune 6-book box set to a new 2026 low.

At $59.83, this isn’t the lowest price we’ve ever seen for the collection, but it is the lowest price we’ve seen in 2026 so far. Amazon is usually the best place to buy books at a discount, but its prices do vary wildly by demand. Looking closer at the price history of this box set reveals a pretty substantial price hike just after Dune: Part 2 came to theaters back in 2024. So while it’s certainly possible we could see a lower price this year, it’s equally possible it will only get more expensive as we get closer to the release of the film.

This particular box set only features the six Dune novels that Frank Herbert wrote himself. Technically there are 23 total Dune books in the series canon, but most of them were written by Herbert’s son Brian and aren’t always considered by fans to be a part of the core series. Here’s a quick rundown of which books are included:

Which books are included?

DuneDune MessiahChildren of DuneGod Emperor of DuneHeretics of DuneChapterhouse: Dune

The first two Dune movies in the Villeneuve trilogy are based off of Frank Herbert’s first book while Dune: Part 3 is meant to adapt the second book in the series: Dune Messiah. The movies haven’t been exact 1:1 adaptations of the books so far, though, and Part 3 is looking like it will only be loosely based on Messiah. The movie, for example, takes place 17 years after the events of Part 1 and 2 — five years later than the time jump we see in the books.

Since Villeneuve has stated that Dune: Part 3 will be the last film in the trilogy, the books may very well be the only way you’ll be able to uncover more of the story once it’s done. Though it seems unlikely that Warner Bros. wouldn’t try to adapt more books in the franchise.
