Ed Boon 'Leaks' First Look at Kitana in Mortal Kombat 2 Film

We've just gotten our first look at Kitana in the upcoming film sequel to Mortal Kombat, thanks to none other than Ed Boon.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Adeline Rudolph will be joining the fight as the famous assassin in Mortal Kombat II. While the image, shared by Boon on X/Twitter on Thursday, doesn't show her face or even her full costume, it does give us a very good look at the iconic steel fan that she uses as her primary weapon.

Boon also revealed that he's seen an unfinished cut of Mortal Kombat II and jokes that during the screening, he broke into producer Todd Garner's phone, "found this image from the film, and (sent) it to my phone." Cheekily referencing the many Mortal Kombat leaks and datamines that tend to get ahead of official reveals, he added, "I can leak stuff too."

Funny enough, a crowd at San Diego Comic-Con got an early look at the image, as Boon showed it to the audience during last week's big Mortal Kombat panel (in which IGN was in attendance). It was only on the screen for a short time, however (likely to avoid leaks), and wasn't released publicly on that day.

Kitana is making her highly anticipated film debut in Mortal Kombat II, which is fitting considering she entered the franchise in the 1993 video game Mortal Kombat II. She quickly became a favorite with fans, and has appeared in every installment ever since.

In addition to Rudolph as Kitana, other actors joining the cast for the sequel include The Boys star Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Marytn Ford as Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Sindel, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi. Most of the cast from the 2021 film will be returning as well, including Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, and Mehcad Brooks.

Simon McQuoid will also be returning to direct Mortal Kombat II, which is set for release on October 24, 2025.

Alex Stedman is a Senior News Editor with IGN, overseeing entertainment reporting. When she's not writing or editing, you can find her reading fantasy novels or playing Dungeons & Dragons.
