Decades before Peter Jackson and his team headed to Middle-earth, animator Ralph Bakshi became the first to bring The Lord of the Rings to the big screen. Dark Horse is celebrating the legacy of 1978's animated The Lord of the Rings movie by releasing a new set of collectible figurines based on that iconic animation.
IGN can exclusively reveal The Lord of the Rings Animated Film PVC Figure Set. Check out all three figures in the slideshow gallery below:
This lineup of LotR figures includes three characters from the film – Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, and Aragorn. Obviously, that only scratches the surface of the film's massive ensemble cast. Dark Horse teases that there may be future releases in this series, so stay tuned for more.
These PVC figurines were sculpted by Chris Dahlberg and painted by J.W. Productions. Each measures between 4.25 and 6.25 inches tall.
These three figures are being sold as one box set. The set is priced at $89.99 and is slated for release between September and November of 2026. You can preorder a set on the Dark Horse Direct website.
In other The Lord of the Rings news, production is expected to begin soon on Andy Serkis prequel film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Kate Winslet is the latest actor to join the cast, which also includes Ian McKellen reprising the role of Gandalf. Though currently unconfirmed, Elijah Wood said he doesn't want anyone else playing the Frodo role.
