Criterion Collection had one of its infamous Flash Sales earlier this week, offering 50% off the full range of in-stock discs. The only catch? The usual: the sale only lasted 24 hours, and there is no longer any evidence of it on the Criterion site.
Amazon also happens to be running a Spring Sale this week, and it seems their price-matching tendencies got the better of them when it came to Criterion releases. While Amazon’s discounts aren’t quite the same level as the 50% off we saw during the Flash Sale, these are likely the best prices we’ll see for the next couple of months.
Criterion Collection Deals Still Live on Amazon
The Criterion Collection is a distribution company that restores and releases “important classic and contemporary films,” which has led to a pretty whimsical library over the years. There’s a real mix of new releases and classics, including Killers of the Flower Moon, Eyes Wide Shut, and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.
Deals are live across a series of Best Picture winners, including the 2024 winner Anora, 2023 winner Parasite, and the 2007 winner No Country for Old Men. And if we’re talking the best movies of all time, you have to mention Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride, which I think has particularly beautiful cover art with the Criterion edition.
The discounts seemingly get better the more expensive the releases are, so you’ll actually find the full 50% discount on massive sets like the Wes Anderson and Bruce Lee collections. I’d also highly recommend the full Before trilogy.
In other Criterion news, KPop Demon Hunters is joining the Collection and will hopefully fund the next decade of niche restorations.
There Are a Ridiculous Amount of Movie Deals Right Now
Aside from discounts on specific releases, Amazon is also running a “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” deal that includes a heck of a lot of movies. Not necessarily these ones, but a lot of them. You can check out some of what’s on offer in that deal below.
Gruv is also running a series of March Madness sales, including a ‘3 for $30’ deal on 4Ks. These people truly do not want you to ever have shelf space (or savings) again.
