21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street star Channing Tatum still wants to make a third film in the franchise, and he said co-star Jonah Hill does too.
Speaking to Comic Book, Tatum said the film — which has existed in some capacity for years and at one point was a Men in Black crossover — wasn’t made due to “a lot of bureaucracy” but it was still “the best script that I’ve ever read for a third movie.”
Despite this, more than a decade has passed since 22 Jump Street arrived, and while 23 Jump Street still sounds far from being in development, Tatum made clear he hopes it will be one day.
I would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah, I know, wants to do it.
“It’s just a lot of bureaucracy, kind of above the line stuff. It’s really hard to get it made and we’ve been trying to get it done,” Tatum said.
“You know what, I’m going to put some good juju out there and I’m going to say I would love to see 23 Jump Street. I would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah, I know, wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again.”
The pair played police officers going undercover as high school students in the first film and college students in the second, and the latter made jokes about myriad sequels already. It showed Tatum and Hill undercover as ballet students, medical students, foreign exchange students, and more.
