Blade Runner 2099 has added Furiosa's Tom Burke and Ripley's Maurizio Lombardi to its ever-expanding ensemble.

As reported by Deadline, Burke and Lombardi have joined the Prime Video series in recurring roles, starring alongside Hunter Schafer and Michelle Yeoh (who is playing a character named Olwen), plus Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, and Matthew Needham.

Details of the characters Burke and Lombardi are playing are under wraps for now, but both actors are coming off memorable roles. Burke most recently starred as Praetorian Jack opposite Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, while Lombardi portrayed Inspector Pietro Ravini in Netflix's Ripley.

Burke's other credits include a notable turn as Orson Welles in the Oscar-winning movie Mank, along with roles in the Ryan Gosling-led feature Only God Forgives and the Ralph Fiennes-directed film The Invisible Woman. People may also recognize him from Netflix's The Crown, having starred as "Dazzle" Jennings for an episode.

Lombardi, meanwhile, appeared in HBO's The Young Pope and its sequel, The New Pope, in the role of Cardinal Mario Assente. He starred in Ridley Scott's 2017 biographical crime drama All the Money in the World. He also recently wrapped filming on the Prime Video series Citadel: Diana, which will debut on October 10.

Blade Runner 2099 has been in the works for a while, with Ridley Scott confirming in November 2021 that the team had locked in the plot for the series, which is both a sequel to the original 1982 Blade Runner and its 2017 follow-up, Blade Runner 2049, with Scott executive producing alongside showrunner Silka Luisa.

There is no premiere date yet, but production is underway in Prague, with Shōgun director Jonathan van Tulleken helming the first two episodes.
