Amazon’s Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Sale Is the Best Prime Day Phone Deal Today

Smartphones are more expensive than ever, and even $50 off can lighten the pain a purchase of one inflicts on your wallet. While Prime Day is best known for deals on video games, Blu-rays, and other tech items, it’s not always a guarantee that we see a fantastic smartphone deal. However, this year, Amazon has the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL discounted to $749, which matches the lowest price we’ve ever seen this phone at. If you’re in the market for a new phone and aren’t locked into the Apple ecosystem, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is easily one of the best phones you can buy.

At this price, it’s an excellent deal for a new Android phone. The Pixel 9 Pro XL has only dropped lower one other time, and this is the closest we’ve seen to the biggest price cut. There’s also a pretty good deal on the smaller Pixel 9 if you’re looking to spend less.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL for $749

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is by far the most powerful phone Google has ever released, as it utilizes Google Gemini and packs in the Google Tensor G4. You’ve also got 16GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is more than enough to power and store even the most demanding applications. This all runs on a gorgeous 6.8-inch Super Actua display, featuring support for HDR and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Pixel series has always been known for its outstanding camera quality, and the Pixel 9 Pro is no exception. This phone features a triple camera system on the back that includes a 50 megapixel wide camera, a 48 megapixel ultrawide camera with Macro Focus, and a 48 megapixel 5x telephoto camera.

Additionally, the Pixel 9 Pro XL features an all-day 24-hour battery, which is more than both Samsung and Apple’s flagship devices. This can be a game changer for anyone, as you won’t need to even consider bringing around a portable charger.

What We Said in Our Review

In our 8/10 review of the smaller Google Pixel 9 Pro, Mark Knapp wrote: “The Pixel 9 Pro is simply a great camera phone. Its combination of sensors and extra Pro controls make it a powerful tool for both casual and intentional photography. Beyond that, it’s a solid smartphone, with ample performance for both everyday use and even some more demanding gaming. It might not keep up with something like the OnePlus 12 or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in terms of raw performance, but it may be some time before we see any of the three phones really brought to their knees in typical operation. It would be great if Google’s AI features were more thoroughly baked and played a more obvious role on the Pixel 9 Pro’s hardware, as they currently seem artificially restricted to the phone, but Google’s stumbles on software don’t stand in the way of the Pixel 9 Pro being a great phone in general as much as they keep it from going above and beyond. Its great hardware, slick design, and tame size make it an especially exciting treat for those looking for a small phone without much compromise.”
