Alien: Romulus director Fede Álvarez has finally confirmed one burning question for those who have seen the latest entry in the sci-fi horror series: who exactly was the father of Kay's child?
On the Alien subreddit, one user made a post to discuss a spoiler-heavy theory on the identity of the father of Kay's child. Álvarez commented on the post, confirming the redditor's suspicion. "Yes, he is. Good catch!" Álvarez wrote.
For those who have not seen Alien: Romulus, the character Kay is the only pregnant member of the group. However, Kay never outright reveals who the baby daddy is other than referring to the individual as "some jerk."
Alien: Romulus was released in theatres last week and has become a hit at the box office, making $108 million during its opening weekend. Set between the events of the 1979 film Alien and 1986's Aliens, Romulus tells the story of a group of young space colonists who scavenge an abandoned space station only to encounter hostile alien lifeforms.
The film has been met with positive reception from both critics and fans of the series. However, it met with some controversy after Álvarez had to defend the choice to use CGI to replicate one actor's likeness in the film.
IGN's Alien: Romulus review returned an 8/10. We said: "Romulus's back-to-basics approach to blockbuster horror boils everything fans love about the tonally-fluid franchise into one brutal, nerve-wracking experience."
