Amazon is currently running a buy 1, get 1 50% off sale on all of the Narnia books this week. The promotion extends to hardcovers, box sets, paperbacks, and even a massive 7-in-1 deluxe edition. With Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia movie hitting theaters early next year, this discount is a great time to read the original C.S. Lewis novels that inspired it all.
If you’re only looking to read the source material for Gerwig’s movie, you’ll want to check out the deal on The Magician’s Nephew first. The paperback, hardcover, and collector’s edition are included in the sale. You can also get a copy of it in the box set or deluxe edition available here if you want the full collection instead.
Buy 1, Get 1 Half Off Narnia Book Sale at Amazon
Amazon has these types of sales pretty regularly and now is a particularly good time to buy multiple books at once. All you need to do is add two eligible books to your cart and Amazon will automatically apply the 50% discount to whichever one is the cheapest. This means you’ll want to buy two similarly priced books to take full advantage of the discount.
So, for example, if you’re looking to buy the deluxe edition at $39.50, you probably don’t want to also buy The Magician’s Nephew paperback for $7 at the same time. Instead you’ll want to browse the sale for something closer to $40 to maximize your savings. Because of that, this sale usually works best if you’re looking to get multiple copies of the same book at the same price point.
Where Is The Magician’s Nephew on the Book Timeline?
If you’re new to The Chronicles of Narnia books, it’s worth noting that the official reading order is up for debate. If you’re looking to read the story in terms of when the events take place chronologically, The Magician’s Nephew would count as book one in the series. But it was actually the fifth book C.S. Lewis published. The box set and the deluxe edition both place The Magician’s Nephew as the first book, but it may not be the order you’ll want to read it in.
The actual order in which you read the books doesn’t really matter, and C.S. Lewis has said as much. But if you’re a purist who would rather read the books in the way Lewis intended his audience to read them at the time, you’ll want to start with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe instead.
When Is the New Chronicles of Narnia Movie Coming Out?
It’s been in the works for a while, but Greta Gerwig’s Narnia movie is coming to theaters pretty soon. It’s theatrical debut is set for February 12, 2027 and it will eventually come directly to Netflix in April 2027. So if you want to read the book before seeing the movie, you’ve still got some time to do so.
