DC Villains 6-Film Limited Edition Steelbook Collection Glows in the Dark

Some of the best DC superhero movies going back five decades are collected in a new 4K steelbook library case bundle. It’s called the limited-edition DC Villains 6-Film collection, and it features movies starring Superman, Batman, Aquaman, and more. Perhaps more fittingly, the movies also star villains like Joker, Catwoman, the Riddler, and Lex Luthor.

The collection is up for preorder for $139.99 exclusively at Amazon, with a release date of October 27.

The movies range from the 1979 Christopher Reeves classic Superman: The Movie to Matt Reeves’ 2022 masterpiece The Batman. Those movies are great, as are the four in between, including the two Tim Burton Batman films. See the full list of movies included below.

While the movies are obviously the main focus here, including the iconic villains the heroes fight, the packaging is also a key component of the collection. Each of the six movies has its own steelbook case, with the movie poster on the cover. If you put the cases under a light and then turn off the lights, you’ll see glow-in-the-dark graffiti scrawled across each of the steelbooks. It’s a pretty cool idea.

The six steelbooks are housed in a library case that offers plenty of room and protection for the individual discs. The library case itself is also decked out in glow-in-the-dark markings. You can get an idea of what it looks like in the photo above (or in the listing itself on Amazon).

Movies Included in the Collection

Superman: The Movie (1979)Batman (1989) Batman Returns (1992)Aquaman (2018)The Suicide Squad (2021)The Batman (2022)

According to the critical consensus, DC movies have been pretty hit-or-miss over the years in terms of quality. However, all the movies collected here are certified bangers. This collection thoughtfully skips over clunkers like Batman & Robin, Catwoman, and the 2016 Suicide Squad. The ones it has are all in the range between “good” and “masterpiece.” All-in-all, it’s a solid Batamn 4K collection if you don’t want only Batman movies.

It seems like every physical movie publisher is trying to get its releases out ahead of the holiday buying season. You can preodrer a Poké Ball bundle of all 24 Pokémon movies, as well as a 40th anniversay edition of Transformers: The Movie, and reprints of 15 Studio Ghibli Blu-ray steelbooks. You can find all of the upcoming movies available for preorder in our list of upcoming 4K Blu-ray release dates.
