Avengers: Endgame Encore Disney+ Release Looks Likely, Fans Say

Marvel’s newly-extended Avengers: Endgame Encore looks set for a Disney+ release after its theatrical run.

That’s according to fans who have found a Disney+ listing for the upcoming re-release, which already allows fans to watch its trailer. To date, Disney has made no mention of the Endgame re-release being anything but a theatrical event, but an eventual Disney+ debut does make sense.

This week, comments from Avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been widely shared online in which the duo claim that Endgame is “required viewing” for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Why not make its upcoming enhanced edition available to the widest possible audience, if that is indeed the case?

Yesterday, Marvel clarified that the four minutes of extra footage added to Endgame Encore would supplemented by even more for viewers who watch the film on IMAX or Disney Infinity Vision-approved screens. In other words, two versions of Endgame Encore are on their way. Which version will eventually turn up on Disney+? We’ll have to wait and see.

For now, it likely makes sense for Disney to wait before announcing if and when Endgame Encore will get its streaming debut, as Marvel encourages fans to buy cinema tickets to enjoy the Infinity Saga’s epic conclusion on the biggest screen possible (and to boost Endgame’s box office total further).

Would you go see Endgame Encore in theaters if you knew for sure that a Disney+ launch was coming eventually? Perhaps. But others might decide that their curiosity for the movie’s new scenes can wait until they can stream it.

Avengers Endgame: Encore releases in theaters on September 25, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18. Looking for more Avengers fun on Disney+ in the meantime? Ms. Marvel herself, Iman Vellani, has been roped in for a new limited video podcast series recapping the MCU’s best moments β€” even though her character has not (yet) been confirmed to appear in Doomsday itself.
