Pro Jank Footy Release Date Confirmed, Arrives August

The bonkers-looking, arcade-oriented Pro Jank Footy – from Adelaide, Australia-based developers Powerbomb Games and Tinker Town – will be officially launched on August 13, 2026 (9am AEST).

Taking inspiration from legendary arcade sports classics like NBA Jam and NHL ’94, Pro Jank Footy dials up the absurdity by rejecting realism, and injecting its brand of Australian Rules Football with a wild spread of insane power-ups (including, but not limited to, doubling the amount of players on your team, introducing a third team mid-match, installing brick walls between the goal posts, using portals, having your dad’s car join the team, or… transforming everyone into footballs. Yes).

To mark the announcement, a launch trailer has been created by acclaimed Australian animator and filmmaker Michael Cusack (YOLO: Crystal Fantasy, Koala Man, Smiling Friends, and the voice of Knifey in the High on Life games).

Pro Jank Footy has a number of other names involved that comedy fans may recognise; it’s being helmed by David Ashby (co-creator of the comedy series Danger 5), and Aunty Donna’s Broden Kelly has provided the in-game commentary.

“Pro Jank Footy is a love letter to Aussie Rules Footy and our absurd culture,” said Ashby. “Our game hopes to deliver an authentic arcade footy experience fans have hoped for, and an accessible entry point for anyone new to the sport, or for those who have no interest in sport whatsoever.

“It’s a party game made by a very small and talented team out of Adelaide. There’s not a lot to do here except for working for the government, playing professional sport, or making strange things. Somehow, with Pro Jank Footy, we’ve managed to do all three.”

Described as a “throwback to the golden age of arcade sports games”, Pro Jank Footy is designed for solo play, couch multiplayer, and online.

Pro Jank Footy will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2.
