For Prime Day, Amazon just discounted the Sony WH-1000XM5 noise canceling wireless headphones from its original retail price of $400 all the way down to $197 with free shipping. This is the lowest price I’ve seen since its release and the first time ever that the XM5 has dipped below $200 (not counting refurbished or open box deals). This is one of the best headphones we’ve reviewed and dominates in its new-found sub-$200 category.
50% Off the Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise Canceling Headphones
The Sony WH-1000XM5 is the non-gaming headphone I’ve been using for more than a few years now and I absolutely love it. I find no need to upgrade to the XM6 model, which costs $300 or more new.
The XM5 is still one of the best noise canceling headphones available, both in terms of audio quality and ANC performance. The XM5 is fitted with custom-designed 30mm drivers, giving it audio fidelity compared to previous models. The earcups provide a great seal for effective passive isolation. On the noise canceling front, the XM5 has been fitted with a second processor and eight total microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 looks sleek and feels comfortable to wear, even for hours at a time. The headband is amply padded and wrapped in synthetic leather. The earpads are made of the same material and are upholstered in memory foam. A hard shell carrying case is also included for easy transport. Finally, the XM5 can last up to 30 hours on a single charge, even with ANC activated, and it supports fast-charging over USB-C.
Sony WH1000XM5 Review by Kevin Lee
“The Sony WH-1000XM5 is the big upgrade we’ve been waiting for from Sony’s flagship wireless headphones. The new design and AI makes the noise-canceling stronger while the ambient listening mode is splendidly natural. Audio quality is impeccable too – whether you want to listen to intricate classical music or a rocking action movie, these headphones can do it all.”
