Resident Evil Veronica Announced, Coming 2027

Capcom has revealed a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake, just named Resident Evil Veronica, delighting fans of the franchise watching this year’s Summer Game Fest livestream.

Footage showed an unnamed female character being shown around a Parisian apartment (though the clue here is she’s the sister of someone else here on a secret mission). The footage concludes with the reveal that this is none other than Claire Redfield (sister of Chris) — and this is a reimagined take on the classic Code Veronica story.

While great news for Resident Evil fans, the announcement does not come as too much of a surprise. Previous reporting had pinned a Code Veronica remake for a 2027 release, and tipped its reveal as taking place this year following the launch of Resident Evil: Requiem.

IGN previously verified that a new version of the game is indeed in development, alongside a further-off Resident Evil Zero remake as well. MP1st, meanwhile, has claimed that the game had been pencilled in with a Q1 2027 launch window. And of course, this remake follows Capcom’s previous new versions of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4.

Resident Evil: Code Veronica originally launched in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. It’s not a mainline numbered entry in the series, but it remains beloved by fans and considered a core part of the franchise’s story. Its narrative takes place around the same time as Resident Evil 3, but instead features Claire and Chris Redfield on a remote prison island and then in Antarctica. And yes, fan-favorite baddie Wesker is also involved.
