CD Projekt Announces Official The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine Special Anniversary Stream as DLC Rumors Swirl

CD Projekt has announced an official special anniversary stream for The Witcher 3’s much-loved expansion, Blood and Wine, sparking speculation the studio may tease more DLC for the game.

The stream, set for May 28 at 5pm CEST / 8am PT / 1pm ET / 4pm UK time, will see CD Projekt “return once more to the land of knights, vineyards, and vampires!” CD Projekt said in a tweet.

There’s no suggestion that the stream will contain any announcements, but that hasn’t stopped fans from getting excited about the prospect of confirmation of the long-rumored The Witcher 3 DLC. One recent report pointed to the possibility of a ‘Dune-style’ location for the new, so far unnanounced adventure. This would potentially arrive later this year, adding to The Witcher 3 despite the game being over a decade old at this point.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine launched on May 30, 2016, and was praised by fans for successfully expanding on the world The Witcher 3 established, while bringing closure to its characters, including Geralt. IGN’s Blood and Wine review returned a 9/10. We said: “Geralt gets a fitting sendoff in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine, courtesy of a strong cast and new items.”

“Am I getting baited again?” one fan wondered in response to the stream news. “If the third DLC isn’t announced I will freak out. Just letting you know now,” another added. “I still have high hopes for that DLC guys don’t you let us all down,” pleaded another.

It’s a hugely busy time for CD Projekt. The Witcher 4 production continues, although CD Projekt has cautioned fans not to expect its launch until 2027 at the earliest. The company plans an ambitious six-year roadmap in which it will also launch The Witcher 5 and The Witcher 6.

While further DLC for The Witcher 3 may be in development, CD Projekt has ruled out more DLC for Cyberpunk, suggesting fans will indeed have to wait for Cyberpunk 2 to return to its much-loved dystopian universe. And the wait looks like it’s going to be significant; Cyberpunk 2 is further behind The Witcher 4, and CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has suggested Cyberpunk 2 won’t be out until at least 2030.

However, there is more Cyberpunk coming soon outside the world of video games. CD Projekt has announced a panel dedicated to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, offering fans a closer look at the much-anticipated standalone series. The panel is set for July 3 at 7.30pm PT.
