Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has boarded the cast of Alien: Earth Season 2 in a mystery role.
Deadline reports that, although details about his character’s presence on the show remain under wraps, the actor will appear as a series regular. It’s the first major addition for Season 2 following the conclusion of Season 1 late last year, though a release date for the next batch of episodes has yet to be announced.
Dinklage is probably best known for his time as the silver-tongued Tyrion Lannister, but has credits in movies and shows dating back to the ‘90s. He’s since shown up for films like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Avengers: Infinity War, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Most recently, viewers would have seen him as the serial killer-obsessed antagonist of Dexter: Resurrection and a Toys“R”Us manager in Roofman.
Alien: Earth Season 2 is set to begin production this May at Pinewood Studios, the same London location where Alien, Alien 3, and Prometheus were shot. Season 1 of the Noah Hawley-created sci-fi spinoff was shot in Thailand.
The show, which tells a prequel story that brings the fearsome Xenomorph to Earth in the year 2120, was renewed for a second season on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ in November 2025. Although information about how its plot will continue largely remains a mystery for now, Hawley has at least confirmed that fans shouldn’t expect to see the show tackle a proper Alien vs. Predator story.
While we wait for a release date for Alien: Earth Season 2, you can catch up with our Season 1 finale breakdown here. You can also see why we thought the first run of episodes deserved a 9/10 review.
