Starfield Story DLC, Free Spaceflight Update and PS5 Release Date Confirmed

Bethesda has announced its long-awaited list of updates and additions to Starfield, which fans have been anticipating as the game’s ‘version 2.0’ moment.

Today, Bethesda announced Terran Armada, a new paid story DLC which features a new questline, characters, locations, enemies and rewards. It’ll be priced at $10, or free if you own Starfield’s Premium Edition.

Separately, there’s a raft of additional changes and content coming for all players named Free Lanes — which includes the game’s long-awaited update to spaceflight, allowing you to travel between planets in the same star system.

All of this will arrive on April 7, which is conveniently also when Starfield makes its long-awaited touchdown on PlayStation 5. The game will also be getting a price drop on all platforms to $49.99 (on Xbox currently it’s priced $69.99).

Other free additions coming as part of Free Lanes include an expanded number of encounters, POIs and dungeons, plus a new resource (X-Tech) to upgrade weapons and ship modules. There’s also a new Moon Jumper land vehicle, a Milliewhale pet, and a new crew member, plus the ability to bring a limited number of items into your New Game+.

Fancy playing Starfield again today? If so, there are five new Trackers Alliance adventures available now, expanding the game’s bounty hunter pack (priced at 700 Creations Credits) with some additional targets.

IGN has already seen the new Starfield additions for ourselves — but is it enough to overhaul Bethesda’s space RPG? You can read our full thoughts now. Separately, we’ve also spoken to Bethesda boss Todd Howard as part of a lengthy interview on the game’s past, present and future — check that out for more on how the game may be supported in the future, and for discussion of The Elder Scrolls 6, which Howard says we should all now pretend hadn’t been announced so early.
