How to Watch One Battle After Another After Its Big Wins at The Oscars

While this year’s Oscars ceremony saw big wins for Sinners, Hamnet, and KPop Demon Hunters, no movie came away with as many awards as Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. The film picked up six awards total, including Best Picture, Best Director, the new Best Casting award, and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, who happened to skip the ceremony.

We weren’t entirely surprised by the wins, having given the film a 10/10 and going so far as to call it a “masterpiece” in our review. If you haven’t checked out PTA’s latest yet, here’s where you can watch One Battle After Another after its big Oscars night.

How to Watch OBAA Online

OBAA is streaming exclusively on HBO Max, where you’ll also find fellow Best Picture nominee and Best Actor winner Sinners. Subscriptions start at $10.99, and while the service does not offer a free trial, there are a number of ways to save through bundles. Because OBAA was a Warner Bros. release, there’s a possibility its streaming home ends up shifted by whatever deal lands with Paramount.

If you’re not already a subscriber, you can also rent or purchase One Battle After Another digitally through marketplaces like Prime Video. Right now, Prime has actually dropped the digital purchasing price by 50%, from $19.99 to $9, but if you’re dropping real cash, I’d highly recommend checking out a physical Blu-ray first.

4K Blu-ray at Lowest Price Yet

One Battle After Another is available on standard DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD. Amazon has knocked a couple of bucks off each edition, with the 4K UHD version in particular being at its lowest price yet. Unlike most new Blu-ray releases, OBAA does not come with any bonus features besides a digital code for the film.

What Is One Battle After Another About?

One Battle After Another is a very loose adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland, which generally follows “DiCaprio’s Bob Ferguson, a former lefty revolutionary, who is raising his daughter Willa (Chase Infiniti). He’s been living in hiding ever since things went bad with his revolutionary group, the French 75, years earlier.” You can learn more about the film and how it adapts the original novel in Michael Calabro’s full 10/10 review for IGN.

Blythe (she/her) is an Audience Development Coordinator at IGN who, when she isn’t following streaming news, spends way too much time in character customization screens and tracking down collectibles.
